The Alchemist

I put The Alchemist in my recommended readings. I read the book about 4 1/2 years ago, after a trip to New York City. A dear old friend from high school lives there, and my visit to the big city was a trip back in time with him. It was 5 days of touring, eating, museums, cab rides, music and reminiscing. I had just turned 23 years old, and felt on the verge of a major transition. Actually, I felt "on the verge" through my entire early twenties, but, who doesn't? My friend, Joe, recommended the book to me one night when we were philosophizing over dinner. He told me The Alchemist changed his life, gave him a new perspective. Curious, I couldn't wait to find a bookstore to raid so I could get my hands on this book. As soon as I got back to San Diego I did. I remember reading it in one swoop.
