Hello Spring!
With all this freshness, we are inspired to revisit our achey bodies. Like shaking out an old (but loved) rug, we open ourselves up again to the movement spring inspires. It's time to juice up, and get to playing a little bit. Doesn't it sound nice to feel your best again? Limberness, vitality, and balanced strength all come with yoga practice.
I get bummed out when I hear friends say that they tried yoga, but it was way too advanced for them, and the teacher didn't slow down or accommodate them. They get turned off, and never come back to it. It's hard to find a beginner class, I'm realizing. And even ones that tout that they are truly for beginners seem to go too fast sometimes.
Learning yoga requires patience, attentiveness, and a teacher who can give you space and truly teach proper alignment. In a perfect world, you would have a teacher in an individual setting. She would take into account your personal needs when designing a sequence of poses. Each person has a unique history, and has gone through traumas and stress which create the body he/she is living in. Therefore, no two yogis are the same. And no two yogis require the exact same poses given in the same way.
As you start to thaw out this spring, take some time to be thankful for your unique story, and find a yoga class that can foster your particular strengths. You deserve it!
